Living in the landscape.
Four bedroom replacement dwelling defined by flowing space and a strong connection with the greenbelt countryside through large glazing panels or smaller piercings through the dwelling’s skin.
The hemp render provides an earthy base as it rises from the ground. All the social functions are set within the base and linked by a flowing space that meanders from entrance hall, cloaks, stairwell, kitchen and culminating in the dining and lounge where the space flows down the split level and up the double height void.
The vertical timber slats of the upper tier provides a soft, natural feel that references the arboreal setting. The bedrooms are located here, enriched with large glazed panels for elevated countryside viewing. Balconies add to the feeling of lining in the trees. Smaller, framed views are enjoyed where the timber skin is pierced by bronze framed windows with bronze/ olive reveals, providing gentle sun kissed highlights. The bronze standing seam roof is a reference to agricultural architecture, polished for domestic use by its colour. The materials become more polished as they grow from the ground and reach toward the sun.
The project has been submitted for planning approval.
